Tony-nominated sisters Ann Hampton Callawayand Liz Callaway are bringing a new show to 54 Below, the Broadway supper club, this week.

Thesisters will perform at 7 p.m. November 26, 27, 29 and 30, and at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening, November 28, when a special prix fixe meal, with classic Thanksgiving dishes and other festive favorites, will be served. The November 30 performance also will be livestreamed.

According to 54 Below, their show, New York State of Mind, will be “a veritable buffet over Thanksgiving week (and a) love letter to New York City,” with “a fabulous feast of Broadway, standards, pop and stories of their lifelong love affair with the greatest city in the world. With the masterful Alex Rybeckleading the trio, New York State of Mind is a celebration of roof-raising harmonies, hilarity and fresh takes on songs that will leave you thankful and make you fall in love with this city all over again.”

In an interview last week with Forbes.com, Liz Callaway said her and her sister’s new show is their first with a New York theme.

She said they were not together last Thanksgiving, so it was going to be a “treat to get to celebrate the holiday together and make music” this year.

She said they would exude joy being together, sharing sisterhood, music and stories.

Tony Award nominee, Emmy winner and Grammy nominee Callaway made her Broadway debut in Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along, later starring in Broadway shows Baby, Miss Saigon, and for five years as Grizabella in Cats. Her voice is known to millions as the singing voice of the title role in the film Anastasia.

Her latest album, To Steve With Love.Liz Callaway Celebrates Sondheim, was Grammy-nominated last year for best traditional pop vocal album. It was recorded during a sold-out run at 54 Below,

She also has a new holiday single written by Melissa Manchester, “There’s Still My Joy,” which will be released on December 6 on all digital platforms, including iTunes, Spotify and Apple Music; it will also be available to purchase at www.lizcallaway.com.

The single was originally considered for Callaway’s pandemic holiday album Comfort & Joy – An Acoustic Christmas.

Multi-platinum-selling pop/jazz singer-songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway last fall released her latest album, Finding Beauty, Originals Volume 1; it debuted at #1 on iTunes Jazz. Comprised of 16 tracks, it is a milestone for Callaway, recently inducted into the Women Songwriters Hall of Fame, as it is her first album to feature all-original songs.

“This is my most personal record,” Callaway said. “Throughout my career, I’ve loved singing the great jazz classics and selections from the Great American Songbook, but I’ve always snuck my original songs on various projects. The pandemic made me think, ‘I don’t know if I’ll live through this, but if I do, what’s at the top of my bucket list?’ And I realized that I wanted to tell my story and share the deepest part of me. What better way than by sharing and singing songs I’ve written?”

Callaway’s compositions have been recorded and performed by some of the biggest names in show business, including Carole King, Patti Lupone, Liza Minnelli and Michael Feinstein. Barbara Streisand has featured Callaway’s songs on seven albums, including 1997’s No. 1 platinum smash Higher Ground, which featured “At the Same Time.” Callaway also wrote and sang the theme song of the TV series The Nanny.

Guest performers on Finding Beauty include Manchester, nine-time Grammy nominee Tierney Sutton, Grammy-winning jazz singer Kurt Elling, pop and R&B singer Niki Haris, Grammy-nominated singer Jarrett Johnson, and, not surprisingly, Liz Callaway.

“I’ve recorded CDs with my sister, of course, but this was my first time recording with the other artists,” Callaway said. “It was thrilling to explore these songs together.”

As the CD’s title suggests, it will have a sequel.

“There will be another album,” Callaway said. “This isn’t ‘We should do more of this.’ We definitely will.”
